Elaine Paige Returns to Host 2019 Tony Awards Special on BBC Radio 2
It’s a Tony Awards® tradition. Each June, British musical theatre megastar Elaine Paige travels to New York to be on hand for Broadway’s biggest night—and then brings highlights of the awards ceremony to listeners in the UK and worldwide via BBC Radio 2.
This year Ms. Paige will host “The Tony Awards 2019 with Elaine Paige,” which will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 at 8pm BST on Friday, June 14. The show will be repeated in Paige’s regular program slot at 1pm on Sunday, June 16. The program will also be available for 30 days thereafter on the BBC Radio 2 website.
The Radio 2 special will once again also feature exclusive behind-the-scenes action from the Tony Awards press room.

About Elaine Paige
A true tour de force, Elaine Paige has made a major contribution to the modern musical that ensures her own chapter in the entertainment world and justifies the title “The First Lady of Musical Theatre.”
Paige has starred in numerous West End productions, as well as internationally on Broadway—sweeping to fame when she created her award winning performance as Eva Peron in Evita. Shortly afterwards she created the role of Grizabella in the original production of Cats, and the classic song “Memory” became one of Elaine's many hit records. Other theatre productions include Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Billy, Chess, Anything Goes, Piaf, Sunset Boulevard in London and on Broadway, The King and I, and Sweeney Todd (New York City Opera). As well as performing in concerts worldwide, Paige is a patron of many charities.
